BaseX is a native XML database. As its main characteristics are compact storage structures, it is a very effective implement for XPath and XQuery, and has a graphic interface that makes it easy to visually access stored data. BaseX is completely free, written in Java and only one megabyte in size. It was developed by the University of Konstanz Database and IT group.



The main functions of BaseX:



* It has support for XQuery 1.0, reaching 99.3% in the W3C XQuery test.

* Partial support for XQuery complete text.

* Various indices, including a complete text index (thanks to the implementation of XPath).

* Graphic user interface interactions for XML updates.

* Consultation panel to insert your XPath and XQuery.

* Table views to get a plain and clear view of any conventional XML document in the program.

* It doesn´t lack help either, to solve any problem that could occur.

* Command syntax completely revised from top to bottom.



NOTE: As it is written in Java, BaseX needs you to have Java Runtime Environment installed in your PC.
